Are you changing the default settings for some reason? I won't know for a few days. I hope to be able to get my hands on the laptop either Monday or Tuesday to try the fix. Will post back once I know if it worked.
Thanks to both of you for your help. DLL error message which cannot be fixed. I think this should be proof enough that ZA is not compatible with Win7 I even tried installing it using Compatibility Mode. I now have Windows Firewall back on. I certainly hope ZA has this fixed by October. First, with no compatibility settings, it asks for Vista Service Pack 1.
So I set the compatibility to Vista Service Pack 2 and then get the "program is blocked due to compatibility issues" message shown below. Clearly, this program is not ready for Windows 7, but it works fine for me in Vista SP2. I still haven't got my hands on the laptop, yet, but I did go back to my Vista system and totally deleted including Registry entries Zone Alarm, rebooted, and then reinstalled ZA.
I waited 10 minutes before manually exiting the program install, then rebooted, and ZA works. This is the same way it loaded last year, so there's been no change in the hang factor. It would NOT work doing the same procedure under Win7. I have no idea why it's hanging at the end of the install, but since it's working, I'm happy. If only it would work under Win7. Basically it is asking, "why are you uninstalling our wonderful product?
Here's hoping they get the message. My install never made it far enough for me to get that survey. Now, for some good news. I got ZA installed on the Acer. Acer has their own security center, and I had to uninstall it to get ZA to work. So the Acer problem has been resolved, but the Win7 issue is still pending.
