We do not use uniforms at Liahona. We do, however, enforce a business casual dress code. We think dress is an important way for children to express themselves, and we want to lean into and celebrate each unique student. Liahona Preparatory Academy offers many student group activities each year, including a week-long youth conference each October in Utah, an international Super Service Trip in the summer, and monthly activities for on-campus students.

Additionally, Liahona offers a Disney Break trip each February to a different Disney location around the world. Liahona invites all high school students to attend Prom and graduation in the spring. Liahona in Utah boasts a nationally award-winning theatre department that travels to compete times a year.

California students would be able to participate in the program. Following the twelfth article of faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints— we believe in being subject to our leaders through obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. At the same time, our Utah base still allows full accreditation through campus hours.

The latest data from the California Department of Education confirms what education officials across the country have warned about during nearly two years of COVIDrelated shutdowns: Public school students — especially poor and minority students — are falling further behind in their studies.

These represent noticeable drops from the last full school year before the pandemic. This is a full-on disaster, especially when one looks at the granular data. In fact, during the school year, absenteeism soared and graduation rates continued to dip. These are failing numbers for every category of student.

They are shameful in such a well-funded school system. Namely, the challenges that students and educators faced during the pandemic were multi-dimensional and disruptive to learning and mental health.
